I think most Christian anti-vaxxers are not so much against the vaccine as they are enjoying pretending to be persecuted.

One of the things you notice about white evangelical Christians in particular is that they truly and sincerely believe themselves to always be martyrs and under siege, no matter how much power they actually wield in society.

These Christians are also extraordinarily fond of appropriating Jewishness and its status as an actual persecuted minority religion in the diaspora, hence all the gold Stars of David and identifying with Anne Frank rather than the people forcing the stars onto people, making them hide in attics, and carrying them off to death camps.

Remember: they’re sincere about this. But also remember that doesn’t really change anything.
