More filings in Satanic Temple’s SLAPP action against its Queer Satanic heretics

Salem, Mass.-based religious org TST continues legal attack begun in 2020, utilizing for-profit corporation to target four former members now in Washington State court

Well, the work/case continues.

This state-level lawsuit in King County Superior Court was filed simultaneous to The Satanic Temple appealing the same claims rejected from federal district court in “United Federation of Churches LLC v. Johnson et al” that began in April 2020.

As of Sep. 18, 2023, the King County Superior Court case was stayed while TST’s federal court appeal to the Ninth Circuit progressed, but following TST’s loss in that case, the state court case resumed Feb. 14, 2024.

[Full Docket]

Docket entries #31 thru #41 contain new information as we, the four Defendants, attempt to get this iteration of The Satanic Temple’s lawfare against us dismissed for the fifth and perhaps the final time.

For #30 thru #35, you have TST presenting their strongest case, this time calling on the then-chapter head and media liaison to make declarations, as well as the national Temple’s “Executive Ministry” worker who previously appeared in our federal case admitting TST paid her to stalk us online.

As always, it’s somewhat astounding how often they will just say, “We assert this is true based on us asserting this is true,” such as TST lawyer Matt Kezhaya’s statement that value of a Facebook page was calculated based on him calculating damages, but never specifying further than “based on Internet research.”

It is also perhaps bitterly funny to see Paul Case a.k.a. “Tarkus Claypool” complain that he is a victim in all this while submitting this screenshot of a Facebook cover photo as evidence Defendant Nathan Sullivan, and therefore all of the Defendants, are nefarious and worthy of four years of targeted litigation.

Not that it matters, but here was Nathan’s next Facebook cover photo, updated Dec. 30, 2021:

“Queer Satanic are speciesists who HATE dinosaurs,” apparently.

Meanwhile, here is our own motion for summary judgment with declarations provided by three of the defendants and our attorney, Jeremy Roller.

There might not be much more new in there, but it is nice to have another chance to each state outright in plain language what actually happened and set the timeline straight.

If you have people who are still confused about what’s going on, “Wait, why is The Satanic Temple still suing you?” is a good place to start, but these declarations may also help clarify things for people, and they are in the public record, so disseminate them as you care to.

We’re in the middle of “discovery,” which is not very fun, and it especially is not fun when the people suing you utilize fake names with regularity, claim responsive documents don’t exist or they can’t find them, and also apparently keep trying to use you as an end-around for other cases they’re part of.

But, it does at least mean we are closer to the end than the beginning, and for us, the stuff that actually happened is the stuff we have been arguing actually happened since 2020.

Thank you for your continued support.
