wild how like PCOS, endometriosis, vaginismus & hell, even frequent yeast infections are “mysterious” with no well known cause and little to no decent treatment, but we have tons of supposedly well researched body fat removal methods, about 20 different kinds of breast implants, laser hair removal, and 100 different dermatologist recommended anti aging creams. we sure had the money and brainpower to cure those “diseases”

There is a tendency, particularly among fresh and culturally Christian atheists, to skew toward science worship — from the “IFL Science!!!” pop nonsense to a sincere belief that “there is no logic outside the holy scientific method”, and obviously hard sciences only, not that wishy-washy social science nonsense. The process of deconstruction gets skipped, so God is discarded while the place for God is left in place to be re-filled.

Powerful too is the irrational superstition that a study’s normal, default person is the cis white man.

We continue to miss whole swaths of the human experience that lie outside of this frame, and continue to accuse specific people experiencing pain, fatigue, or other distress of “faking it” or having it “all in their head” due not just to a particular doctor’s particular misogyny but also the background radiation that controls what knowledge exists, is considered important, and is disseminated.

(If you are not white, this is worse. if you are poor or uneducated, this is worse. If you are fat, or disabled, or not cis, this is worse).
